Bree Hudson arrives in mighty Chicago from a small Mississippi town ready to set the world on fire. A newly-minted attorney with an eye on the big leagues, she quickly discovers that her brains are not enough in the dog-eat-dog world of a major law firm. When her supervisor pressures her to sleep with him, and when a family crisis forces her to make bad decision after bad decision, she discovers that the only person in her corner is the owner of the firm himself, Robert Colgate, a man who favors Bree from the start and ends up breaking every rule he has lived by, including sleeping with and craving the young and brilliant Bree, even though she works for him.
But when Robert finds himself accused of sexual harassment, it is Bree who ends up in his corner, not only to help get his good name back, but to help him through turbulent nights where their unbridled passion for each other becomes a powerful antidote to the craziness around them.
Bree and Robert forge a different kind of interracial love affair, the kind built on trust and need and perseverance. And even when Robert’s son comes into the picture, and attempts to drag his mother, Robert’s ex, back in with him, it is that very love that’s tested over and over, almost to the breaking point.

Sometimes its hard to tell if a book will will be interesting from just reading the book description. This was one of those times. I wasn't sure so I downloaded the sample.
The sample peaked my interest somewhat. In my mind I was thinking "I hope this isn't a story where the heroine is just plain silly and makes excuses for her stupidity." But since I've read all of this authors books and they are all good I decided to give it a go.
Well I am pleased to say Bree is smart and determined and I was pulling for her all the way. Although she did make some bad decisions the book is well written and you can really connect with her and understand how she got to those choices. She didn't make excuses for herself, she just tried to move forward and do her best regardless. I love that she was bold enough to speak out even when her opinions differed from everyone else's... even when everyone else was more experienced than she was. But she wasn't obnoxious about it at all.
Robert made some bad decisions also but I love the way he stood up for Bree. He allowed her to be who she was and he didn't try to change her or bully her. He recognized that his favoring Bree wasn't helping her in the popularity dept. and he tried to minimize it as much as he could.
He did allow her to express herself and argue her point especially when she didn't see eye to eye with the heavy hitters. And he didn't allow anyone to mistreat Bree and get away with it.
Its really a good story and I'm glad I purchased it. Even though they had a big gap in age , they made a wonderful couple. I highly recommend reading the book.
And then put it on the "too be read again" shelf.

LOVING THE HEAD MAN edition by Katherine Cachitorie Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
THIS WAS A GREAT STORY!! Great plot, just the right amount of conflict and suspense, tastefully written love scenes, and character development. I will admit that there were a few typos, but they were not as obvious. I have to mention that some reviewers did not like the "Ebonics" and bad grammar spoken by some of the characters in the book. To that I must point out that it was necessary and REALISTIC. I wouldn't have believed in the characters if they came out speaking perfect English. Side note if you don't like racial overtones or blatant racism--don't read this book.
I stay up all night reading this great story about true love and the power of forgiveness when true love is in effect. Bree made some wrong choices for the right reasons, her love for her family almost made her loss her self respect, but that same love for the two men in life, her dad and Robert is what saved her. Loved the way that Robert loved her, and always had her back, even in those times when he really wasn't all that sure of Bree. Some characters I liked more ten others. The whole office staff was just whack, there were only a handful that was loyal to Robert and was able to see how Bree added to his life. I didn't like his son, Zack at first, but once I heard his whole story, I understood where he was coming from. Overall I thought it was a good read.
I've read most of this author's work and have loved it all. She's one of the few authors whose books I can read over and over again.
In this book Bree (the heroine) is a recent law school graduate who comes from a humble beginnings. She's in competition with other graduates for a position at a prestigious law firm which is owned by Robert Colgate (the hero). Although she's a minnow surrounded by many sharks she captures the eye and heart of Robert. There's a lot of drama, pretty much what you'd expect when the boss hooks up with a subordinate who on the outside is his complete opposite. There's also great sex.
Again, I love this story. I can't wait for this author to write another book.
This book is on my keeper shelf, and i have repeatedly reread it. If you like Mallory Monroe. you'll love this book. The character are wonderful, and it's easy to see the truly love each other. Robert is a rich, well known winning lawyer who make prosecuters shudder in fear. Robert has it together, he is a man who has everything, except a woman in his life who truly loves him, the man, not who he is or what he can give her. Bree is a twenty something poor young woman who just finished law scholo and smart as all get out, she frank, and down to earth, and she has everything going for her, except a flushed bank account. Robert, and bree are attracted to each other and after one incredible night Bree makes it clear that she can't be with him, that they are at two different places in their lives, and she has worked to hard to accomplish her goals just to blow by having other falsely accuse her of getting ahead by sleeping her way to the top, she also feels a relationship between them would be to unequal. Robert doesn't agree, he just allows Bree to think he's going to let it go. While Robert is away on a huge case defending the former Vice president of the united states, Bree lands into some big trouble caused by her immature mother, a trouble making supervisor. After desperately trying to contact Robert, Bree is left between a rock and a hard place, and she makes a terrible choice that causes serious issues between her and Robert. One explosive argument later Bree packs up and leaves Chicago. Weeks later Robert makes his way to Mississippi to bring his woman home. Back in Chicago after deciding to give it a go at making a relationship work. Bree's former competition at Roberts Law firm, and her former supervisor are out for blood. They decide to go after Roberts Reputation, but Bree isn't having it. This was a wonderful read, and well worth the 5.99 that i paid for it.
